IT Transformation
Featuring Onyeka Nchege, CIO, Interstate Batteries

Leaders are expected to drive change within an organization.  In today's world of talented, well-educated IT professionals, leaders are constantly having to seek out new and innovative solutions to keep team members growing and motivated.  At the same time, they're also expected to remain focused on the underlying goals of the business.  We - as leaders - are expected to actively pursue a plan for the "new bus" while avoiding disaster in prematurely abandoning the old one.  As IT leaders, we understand that everyone wants off the "old bus," but we also know that in order to succeed, both old and new must be running parallel to each other.

As Interstate's Chief Information Officer, Onyeka champions partnerships to make valuable ideas possible.  He combines a passion for technolgoy with deep business insight to help Interstate Batteries realize its vision:  being the First Choice in sustabinable battery solutions in every community we serve, now and for generations to come.  Recently nominated for the 2016 Dallas CIO of the Year, Onyeka brings more than 20 years of leading teams, developing strategies and building technology solutions to the biggest name in automative replacement batteries.  He also leads the creation and integration of technology solutions for Interstate's network of retail store franchises and distributors across North and Central America.  He regularly contributes to CIO Review magazine and shares his insight and experience with peers and colleagues via his own blog, onyekanchege.com.

Before joining Interstate, Onyeka was CIO of Coca Cola Bottling Company Consolidated, where he led teams to modernize technology in the field, powering business processes for daily, on-the-street use.  He partnered with customer segments to define the delivery model and plan.  He began his career working in the banking industry, serving as a technical business analyst, designing and implementing their e-commerce solutions.  He moved to the the manufacturing industry where he led software developers and business leaders in multiple platforms and locations.

Onyeka is a graduate of Georgia State University's J.Mack Robinson College of Business and serves on the Board of Directors for Apparo Solutions, Inc., for BIg Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte and Bethel Baptist Church Ministries, serves on the Advisory Board for UNC Charlotte's College of Computing and Informatics as well as the Dallas CIO Governing Body for EVANTA.
